I am an experimental multimedia artist, student, and teacher living in Denver, CO. In my multiple personal and collaborative projects, I create experimental installations and moving visuals with textural narrative plots that flow like digital patchwork. I synthesize organic matter, discarded photographs, found light and other curiosities to create layered, antiqued video textures. My most recent exploratory pursuits combine visual and audio collage. I am interested in revealing the sonic voice of found objects, isolating and arranging commonplace sounds that would normally be lost in the proceedings of every day life.

As an undergraduate art student, I studied what is considered more traditional forms of art, with an emphasis in painting and photography. The years I spent studying art history, painting and other studio arts were invaluable to the scope of my perspective as an artist and as a person. I became interested in digital art culture through relying the internet as a survival tool throughout a semester in Perugia, Italy. I began to realize what vast global information, social networks and communities were accessible through the use of computer technology. Through the span of two years, I was able to acquire image and video editing skills through artistic collaborations and focused time management.

As an educator, I believe that it is essential that students are encouraged to critically analyze their own experiences in media in order to be equipt with skills to navigate the overwhelming information and choices available. Many young adults have had a unique relationship with technology early in their lives, which undoubtedly has had a great impact on shaping their world views. It is important to inquire and listen to what these young adults have to say about their own experiences growing up in an increasingly digital dependant age, while also engaging them in dialogues at the intersection of art, technology, environmental and global awareness.

I have taught in Denver and Aurora in public schools, alternative education environments and after school art programs. It is my goal with my future students, to become a facilitator of interdisciplinary learning, self-confidence, self-reliance and collaborative learning environments. I am consistenly seeking forms and avenues for creative reform in the field of education. Currently I work at the Downtown Aurora Visual Arts Center which offers free enrollment for young adults into a job training program where young adults learn how to follow through with completion of an art process from concept to gallery.
