Flash 4 Video Mixing
Students will examine the different aspects and styles of video mixing with custom animations. They will be introduced to different artists whom create custom animations and visual styles much like digital graffiti.
Phase 1: Introduction and Theory
Participants will explore the theory and practice of:
- History of Video Mixing (artists and technology)
- Flash Animation
- Concepts of Video Mixing with animations
Sound reactive
Narrative
Re-mix/samples
Culture jamming
Live cameras
- Technical aspects of live video mixing
- Hardware (Video Mixer, Video Camera, Projectors)
- Video Mixing Software

Phase 2: Practical Experience: Creating Live Video Performances
Students Create an Event featuring Live Video Mixing of their Flash created animations. Under the supervision of the workshop leaders, participants will learn to create and develop a live video patch from custom made Flash animations. Students will learn how to use Adobe Flash Software, with Arkaos or Resolume for video mixing. This will enable them to create custom visuals for their live video mixing performance.
Phase 3: Finishing Process and Perspectives
An evaluation and feedback session will be held as we critique our final projects and performances. Students will perform short pieces where they mix video within one of the key concept formats.
